What are frame sliders and what do they do?
Frame sliders are plastic pieces that bolt to the sides of a motorcycle. If the motorcycle is tipped or
crashed, the bike impacts and slides mostly on the frame slider. The idea is to absorb impact, and hold the
bike up to
minimize damage to the motor, frame, tank, radiator, and usually the bodywork is better off, too.
Do I have to modify my bike?
It depends on the model of motorcycle. Some require holes to be cut in the bodywork, others require light
trimming, while others don't need any modifications. See the products pages for your particular application.
What material are your frame sliders made out of? Why not Aluminum?
We've spent hundreds of hours researching materials. The plastics we've chosen are, in our
opinion, the best
combination of abrasion resistance, impact absorption, and appearance. They are the
same materials used by
many other companies.
Inside the plastic is an aluminum insert to give the slider more strength.
We don't use Aluminum for the outer slider piece. A frame slider needs to absorb impact so as little
energy as possible is transmitted to the frame. It also needs to slide smoothly to keep the bike from
“digging in” and flipping. Aluminum doesn't absorb much impact, and can dig into the pavement. An all
aluminum slider bolted to an aluminum frame can have disasterous results.

the entire base is made of aluminum.
In many cases, an aluminum slider will absorb some impact and then bend into the frame and crack it.
Will the sliders protect my Fairing? Tank? Radiator?
Sliders are designed first and foremost to protect the frame and motor from damage. Next in line is the
tank and radiator. Then, if the slider can be increased in length safely, we will increase the length to help
protect the bodywork. Sliders can't protect everything all the time, but will almost always help minimize the
damage.
